About

ColumbiatrafficcalmWith our county’s population projected to grow by more than 40,000 people by 2030,  it is especially important that Howard County update its 2007 Pedestrian Master Plan so that the County’s pedestrian network serves all who live, work, and visit here.

During the past year, we’ve looked at sidewalks, bus stops, and intersections to assess current conditions and identify needed improvements and changes. Working with Toole Design Group (the company that developed our Bicycle Master Plan), we walked and evaluated all roads with bus stops and many other roads in the eastern portion of the County.  We’ve also looked at walking conditions in several rural hamlets – Glenwood, Lisbon, West Friendship, Highland, and Glenelg.

Ellicott City1Now we need to hear from you! We hope you will join in as we complete the plan.  Come to an open house to learn about what we’ve found or tell us about a location you know where an improvement will make walking easier or safer. Nobody knows your neighborhood better than you do!

There are several ways to join in, using Edie as your guide. edie-alone
